About Me
I am committed to helping adults (18+) who are struggling with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, unresolved trauma, and life stressors. I believe taking a collaborative approach is vital in helping clients reach their desired goal(s) and conducive to creating a safe environment. In therapy, I view the client as the expert of their life, and I am here to guide them on their journey towards healing by providing critical feedback or an unbiased perspective. To promote healing, I use a combination of Person-Centered, Reality, Interpersonal Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. One of the many facets of being a therapist is being an educator. I teach clients about several grounding and relaxation techniques designed to promote emotional regulation both in and out of session. I also work with clients to develop better communication skills and promote non-violent communication. I view relationship issues through an attachment style-based lens. I assist clients in identifying their attachment style and finding ways to ensure both they and their friend, family member, or romantic partner’s needs are met in the relationship.
As an international adoptee, I have a passion for working with individuals within the adoption kinship network (e.g., adoptees, birth parents, adopted parents, and extended family). I grew up living in predominantly white cities, and there was very little assistance in processing my adoption. While most adoptive parents are successful in integrating and parenting their adopted children, there are complex emotional issues that contribute to post-adoption family stress. Unfortunately, people don't understand that adoption is not an event; it is a lifelong process with an intergenerational impact. I believe access to adoption-competent mental health services is a critical factor in successful family integration and adoption.
In 2023, I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and completed the Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) program created by The Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.).
